Three weeks with rental car through Alaska!
After arrival head due north to the Matanuska Valley. Continue on to Alaska's crown jewel, Denali National Park and Preserve. Take a bus tour through the park and home of Brown Bears, Caribou, Moose, Eagles, Fox, Dall Sheep, just to name a few. Next, head up to Fairbanks - your jumping off point to a relaxing Chena Hot Springs visit and a tour of the 44-acre Pioneerland Historical Pioneer Park.
Drive south to Skagway, Alaska, where you can take an optional railroad trip over the famous gold rush era, Chilkoot Pass. While in Skagway, enjoy attractions like the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, the Days of '98 Show with Soapy Smith, or a Flight seeing tour. Continue south 14 miles to Haines, a charming little seaside town located on the shores of America's longest fjord and surrounded by spectacular peaks, glaciers, rivers, and lakes.
Next, take the Top of the World Highway to Dawson City, Canada, the heart of the great Klondike Gold Rush. Visit the Palace Grand Theater, the Jack London Cabin, and
 
Head south to the Kenai Peninsula and the fishing port of Seward. While in Seward, take a glacier cruise in the Gulf of Alaska and walk to the face of one of the Kenai Peninsula’s post popular attractions, Exit Glacier.

Day 1: Anchorage/Matanuska Valley
Arrive in Anchorage. Pick up the rental car. Drive to Matanuska Valley, Alaska’s Farmland. Overnight. About 45 minutes drive.

     
 
Day 2: Matanuska Valley/ Talkeetna
Visit Hatcher Pass and the goldmine. Continue to Talkeetna, a quaint little town. Flight over Mt. Mc Kinley with glacier landing. An unforgettable adventure. Overnight.

Day 3: Denali
Continue to Denali. Overnight before the park.

Day 4: Denali/Fairbanks
Optional: Denali tour, a scenic bus tour in to Denalipark. Watch for bears, caribou and moose. Drive to Fairbanks. About 2 ½ hour’s drive. 2 nights.

Day 5: Fairbanks
Tours optional: Chena Hot Springs; Alaskaland; University of Alaska Museum.

Day 6: Tok
Leave Fairbanks very early for Tok. Its is a long drive. Going South the Richardson Highway. On the way visit Northpol the Santa Claus house. Overnight in Tok.
   


Day 7: Haines Junction/Haines
Tok to Haines Junction. Continue to Haines. Overnight.

Day 8: Skagway
By ferry to Skagway. Visit the quaint little gold rush era town. Visit the museum. Take the White Pass Train – Chilkoot train. An unforgettable train ride. 2 nights.

 
 

Day 10: Whitehorse
Drive to Whitehorse. 2 nights at the Capital City of the Yukon Territory.

Day11: Whitehorse
A day in Whitehorse.

Day 12: Dawson City
Drive from Whitehorse to Dawson City. Pan for gold and visit the famous Diamond Tooth Hall.

Day 13: Dawson City
Dawson City. A day on your own. Explore and enjoy. Optional: Dinner tour on the boat on the Yukon river.

Day 14: Tok
Drive to Chicken and continue to Tok to overnight. On this day you cross the border from Canada to Alaska.

Day 15: Valdez
Drive along from Tok to Valdez. Overnight.

Day 16: Prince William Sound
By ferry through the Prince William Sound to Whittier. Then continue to Seward. 2 nights.

 
Day 17: Seward
Day tour by boat through Kenai Fjords National Park and the Gulf of Alaska. Sea lions, sea otters, puffins and eagles can be seen on this tour. Lunch will be served on board.

Day 18: Homer
Drive on to Homer. Along the way, stop in the small town of Ninilchick to see the Russian Orthodox church. 3 nights in Homer.
 

Day 19./20: Optional tours:
* By floatplane to Katmai bear viewing.
* By boat to Seldovia.
* Halibut fishing.
* Guided kayak tour.

Day 21: Girdwood/Alyeska
Drive to Soldotna and continue to Girdwood. Overnight.

Day 22: End of the tour
Drive to Anchorage. Return the rental car. Transfer to the airport.
